HUNERKADA College of Visual and Performing Arts is brainchild of the renowned artist and actor Mr. Jamal Shah who founded it under umbrella of Arts Association of Pakistan at Islamabad in 1992. It was one of the pioneer arts and design institutions in private sector of Pakistan at that time and was a result of never-ending love and ambition of Jamal Shah with the promotion of this neglected field. The institution was an immediate success which motivated him to open its second campus in Lahore in 1997. Hunerkada is a non-government and not-for-profit organization involved with education at college level offering a wide variety of degree and vocational programs in the fields of Visual and Performing Arts.
The four-year BS degree programs of Textile Design, Graphic Design and Fine Arts are offered in affiliation with University of Sargodha while Hunerkada also offers Diploma and Certificate programs in various disciplines of Visual and Performing Arts, and Design. In addition, Hunerkada has been an active partner of NAVTTC and PSDF and imparts free vocational education to deserving and talented youth of Pakistan under funding from the Government of Pakistan.
Hunerkada has been actively engaged with renowned national and international organizations and have successfully completed projects with World Bank, UNDP, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, Cold Water, BRSP, and BKTEF and have helped many other NGOs as consultants.
Hunerkada has a highly qualified, capable and motivated team of teaching as well as management personnel. High standards are being maintained to ensure satisfaction of its employees as well as the students. They ensure maximum efforts for best utilization of their capabilities in teaching as well as completion of various projects. Currently Hunerkada is working with UNICEF and Ministry of Education for the development of interactive Arts program for community-based schools in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Hunerkada is also developing a resource base for teaching Quranic Calligraphy and traditional Islamic Arts
